Project Management

Here are some examples of how I provide value to my clients:

I only apply the amount of project rigor necessary to complete the project, unless more is requested by the client.  I work with  you to determine the "proper level of rigor".   My clients like the fact that I find a balance that works for them.

I am strong in the "soft skills" of project management, including collaboration, relationship management, negotiation, and conflict resolution.  For a large insurance company, I helped reestablish working relationships between the project team and a vendor that had deteriorated.  In the end, the vendor went beyond the contractual obligations to meet the customer's expectation.  I have also been successful in bringing together teams to create common standards and guidelines when each team had their own agenda and were at different levels of maturity in the common processes.   If I can help this group establish standards,  I can get your teams talking to each other to make your project successful.

I I firmly believe that managing to risks is one of the best ways to manage a project, however, I also manage to milestones or manage tasks and select the method based upon the skill level and project maturity of the team members.   No two projects are alike.  Each team requires a unique approach to be successful.

My technical knowledge will complement your team's knowledge, especially in the areas of work estimates, risk management, and issue resolutions.  My career spans thirty years supporting or working on telephone switches, communication networks,  mainframes, servers and PC's in the fields of software design, development, security, integration, and implementation.

Reporting and tracking financial information is critical to determining the status  of the project.  I  work with the project sponsors, management, and other persons that have a stake in the project to understand and meet their reporting needs.
